Stop_Hunger_Now_Logo     We’re right in the middle of trade show season and are heading out at the beginning of May for our second ConnectionPoint trade show of the year. In March the Sales Team attended RestaurantPoint in Central Florida. The ConnectionPoint team partnered with the Food Bank of Central Florida to raise money from vendors for the Hi-Five-Kids-Pack Program. Our second show, BuildPoint, in Colorado Springs will be raising money for a very similar program based in Southern Colorado, the “Send Hunger Packing” food program.

Send Hunger Packing

The mission behind these organizations is to provide food packs of non-perishable items for children in need to take home for the weekend. Unfortunately many children eat their last meal for the weekend at lunch time on Friday. Their next meal isn’t had until breakfast on Monday morning, when free school meals are available again. Most of us are lucky enough to have never experienced what true hunger feels like and are blessed to be able to put food on the table breakfast, lunch and dinner for our families. It’s sad to say, there are millions of families across America who aren’t so lucky. On Friday afternoons, volunteers discreetly distribute these food packs to children of low income families who are at risk for hunger over the weekend. Each pack contains enough food to make seven meals for four people.

These programs are growing at a rapid pace, as the need for weekend meals grows across our nation. LockNet is honored to have been able to participate in these honorable programs and donate enough money for 50 backpacks to be distributed!
