4314092812_9db1b0bf1c_oWhile this may not have anything to do with doors and locks, it’s something we all have in common – hiring the right people for the right jobs.  It’s no easy task, and making the wrong hire can be detrimental to both the company and the employee.  Many positions require not only a specific skill set but also a unique set of personality traits for employees to excel and be happy in their roles.  Following this logic, we initially tried to hire individuals that seemed similar to our star performers; however, this was a time consuming process that did not always work, resulting in turnover and/or unhappy employees.

Turnover and unhappy employees equals unhappy customers.  We knew we needed to do something different.  That’s when we met with the Oliver Group and learned about this awesome tool called the Predictive Index. The Predictive Index is a validated behavioral assessment that accurately predicts workplace behavior.  We developed target profiles for each role, and potential interviewees are required to take the assessment before we bring them in for an interview.  If the potential interviewee does not have a similar profile, we do not bring them in for an interview.  Simply put, if they don’t match the profile, neither they nor LockNet will be happy with the end-result.

Since we began using the Predictive Index, we have not had any turnover in the hired roles.  We are hiring the right people (both skill set and personality) for the right jobs.  Moreover, the interview process is far less time consuming as we only bring in people that, based on the Index, would be a good fit for the role and the organization.

The use of the Predictive Index extends well beyond just a hiring tool.  It can be used as a tool for team-building, improved communications, morale gauging, and performance appraisals.  If you feel that you need to spruce up your hiring practices or any of the areas listed above, we suggest you check it out!
