Locks, Art, and a Starry Night by David Goldberg

La_noche_estrellada1If you’re like most, you don’t look at locks as a thing of beauty, but rather as a functional tool that you use every day.  Owner of Union Hardware, David Goldberg, has turned that notion upside down and has used locks to create a masterful rendering of Vincent van Gough’s Starry Night.  Using over 1,250 doors knobs, levers, and escutcheons, this recreation is 146” by 96”.  There is even folklore surrounding the artwork.  If you rub the Italian chrome leaver, you will dine on a sumptuous pasta dinner.  If you want a case of beer, rub on the German brass lever.  I for one will be rubbing the crystal stars – it is said that large diamond earrings or a ring will come your way.

Here is a link where you can see more brilliant pictures of Union Hardware’s Starry Night.
