relay for life eventLast Friday, LockNet participated in the annual Relay for Life event. The event is something we like to do every year. It gives employees  a chance to raise money for a great cause, and to enjoy one another’s company outside of work.

We had several small events for the past few weeks to help with our fundraising efforts, such as  a cook-out complete with hot dogs on the grill, chips and drinks, with all proceeds going toward the company’s totally fundraising goal. Jason Higgins, in inventory control, baked pizza for anyone in the company who was interested and all of those proceeds also went to the fundraising goal.

All of that hard work led up to the actual relay event. There were several touching moments throughout the night, including the introduction of cancer survivors and their victory lap around the track. The Grand Marshal was a  small child who is a cancer survivor. It made for a very emotional evening.

We have an employee who is a cancer survivor so this event is very near to his heart and it’s always wonderful to see so many people come out and support the cause.

Out of all of the groups entered in the county, LockNet raised the most money with $3,193.82. It’s a great thing to be recognized for and we are all so proud of everyone who participated. We’re located in a very small community so it’s nice to be able to reach out and and connect with people in this town, especially when it’s an event as meaningful as this one.

LockNet wants to thank every single person who donated, participated in the race or simply showed up to the Relay for Life event to lend their support. Cancer is something that has affected all of us and is something we’ve all experienced in our lives. Without all of us fighting together, we’ll eventually be able to find a cure. So, thank you.
