stile and rail doorsIt’s that time again!

(Hammer time? No. Time to get ill? I wish.)

It’s time for another LockNet Office Door Tour! This time we get to take a look at the doors we have adorning our three sales team offices. If you want to catch up, you can read about other doors in our office here, here and here.

Office Door Tour: The Sales Team Doors

Stile and Rail Doors

The doors installed on the offices of our sales team members are stile and rail doors, and are a little different than the average wooden door. They are built-in sections and have to be pieced together.

They consist of two vertical pieces (called stiles) that make up the sides of the door and a various number of pieces (called rails) that make up the horizontal portions of the door. It’s a little hard to explain, but this picture should give you a general idea of how the door is made.

Our doors are made up of two stiles on each side and six rails up the middle giving them a more modern look than the standard stile and rail doors you would see on the front of a house. Instead of wooden panels, they are fitted with frosted glass pieces.

A Rich Mahogany

We have very light hardwood floors in the sales and marketing department, but we didn’t want that color to blend into our doors. Chad Miller, the LockNet CEO, chose dark mahogany doors with an ebony stain to provide a bit of contrast and to break up the lighter colors throughout the office.

Frames and Hardware

These three doors are equipped with an Assa Abloy Frameworks frame and square barrel two-knuckle hinges. Most doors come with a standard round barrel hinge, but Chad was very specific right down to the hardware and mortise lock, which has square rows and collars to compliment the square barrel hinges.

Are you considering stile and rail doors in your building? Have questions about any of the doors in our door tour? Give us a shout!
