We either have to face it ourselves or face it with a loved one; and often, we feel as though we’re helpless in a situation that offers little hope. However, there are certain organizations that allow you to fight back against cancer, organizations that provide those chances you’re looking for. Relay for Life is one of those organizations.

Last Friday, LockNet participated in a fundraiser for Relay for Life here in Nicholasville. Several other local companies came together to help make this a fantastic event put on with the help of RJ Corman Railroad Company.

LockNet’s Team – “All About Them Locks”

Over the past few months, LockNet employees have sold t-shirts, baked pizzas and coordinated yard sales as a way to raise money for the Relay for Life Foundation and last Friday all of their hard work paid off.

The weather was gorgeous at West Jessamine Middle School’s running track on Friday night. There were games, contests and prizes, as well as live music everyone was able to enjoy.

LockNet team member Dillon Campbell even lucked out and won the 50/50 Raffle!

Everyone had a great time and was able to enjoy some socializing with coworkers outside the typical work day.

In the end, LockNet raised over $3,000 with more still to coming from companies matching what we raised. There were 34 teams who participated in the fundraising and LockNet came in third. Plus, LockNet had the top two individual fundraisers in Eddie Bradley and Thomas Downs. As the matching funds come in, we may very well hit that $5,000 mark and be bumped up to second place!

We had such a great committee that was willing to work on this fundraising outside of work hours and it’s very evident that their hard work paid off. We hope to have even more participants next year and to top our current record of $2,232!
